Liam is a partner with Curtis Dawe. He joined the firm in 1997 after completing his B.A. (Honours) from St. Francis Xavier University and his LL.B from the University of New Brunswick. He was called to the Bar in 1997.
Liam’s practice encompasses a broad range of services in the fields of civil and commercial litigation as well as administrative and corporate law. He has appeared in Courts at all levels in the province particularly in the areas of medical malpractice defence and commercial litigation. A large portion of his practice is dedicated to appearing before administrative tribunals in matters involving utility regulation and professional discipline. Liam also offers expert advice to regulators and administrative tribunals in the areas of professional regulation and discipline.

Outside the Firm:
Liam is a past Chair and current member of the Board of Directors of Lakecrest Independent School. He also serves as Chair of the School’s Governance Committee. Liam is also a past Chair of the Health Law Section of the Newfoundland and Labrador Chapter of the Canadian Bar Association. Liam served two terms as an elected Bencher of the Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador and is the Law Society’s representative on the Small Claims Rules Committee.
Liam is a regular presenter at a variety of seminars and lectures regarding health law and served as a lecturer for the Administrative Law Section of the Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador Bar Admission Course in 2018. He also acts in an advisory capacity to several local charitable groups.
