Dave is an innovative advocate, capable of finding novel solutions to difficult problems. Throughout his nearly 30 years of experience exclusively as a litigator, Dave has garnered substantial trial and other courtroom experience, including multiple jury trials. This experience allows him to find effective and timely solutions for his clients, both inside and outside of the formal litigation process.
He also has extensive experience participating in mediations, arbitrations and other dispute resolution processes, including those involving complex multi-party matters in a variety of practice areas.
Dave’s practice has primarily focused on insurance disputes, construction claims, personal injury claims (from both a defence and plaintiff perspective), defamation, commercial disputes and professional negligence claims. Dave has appeared before all levels of Court in Alberta, and in several other jurisdictions. He was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 2014. He has regularly been recognized by LEXPERT as one of the top personal injury lawyers in Alberta, as well as being recognized by Best Lawyers.
Dave regularly presents papers and case commentaries to clients, industry groups and lawyers in the context of continuing legal education.
Outside of the office, Dave enjoys spending time with his family and in his community. For several years Dave coached his sons’ hockey teams, using the knowledge and skills he acquired as a hockey player himself. He is a keen golfer and enjoys exploring the hiking trails in and around Kananaskis Country. Dave also has a passion for travelling and engaging in landscape and wildlife photography.
